Holcomb's Early Growth
In 1872, in Mallet Creek, Ohio, James R. Holcomb founded his namesake company as a mail-order house specializing in novelties,
school supplies, rubber stamps, and musical instruments. Holcomb's has since evolved into an employee-owned, leading-edge
educational resource, offering a wide range of educational tools to enhance and expand the learning experience. These tools
include instruction and art materials, games, gift items, office supplies & furniture, early childhood products, teaching
aides, and technology products and services.
From Mr. Holcomb's first patent on a telephone in the late 1800's, through the development and expansion of our educational
supplies catalogs, our education retail store openings and the establishment and growth of a division dedicated to educational
technology, Holcomb's has continued to be the innovative leader in providing educational resources. "It's always been the goal
at Holcomb's to provide the highest quality products and service to our customers" states President Paul Culler. "We'll continue

school furniture line. Our 33 Holcomb’s KnowPlace retail locations are the fastest growing educational resource stores for teachers and
parents, with locations in Ohio, Michigan, New York, western Pennsylvania and Kentucky. The KnowPlace stores provide a shopping experience
that nurtures the art of teaching and celebrates the gift of learning. Our knowledgeable store sales associates help teachers, parents,
and students choose from a wide assortment of unique and wonderful learning products. Holcomb's is also proud to offer Technology solutions
to schools and educators. For over 20 years we have provided technology products that teachers need, and answering the questions that
schools have regarding product applications, platform compatibility, memory upgrades, digital imaging, software licensing and more. We are
also an authorized reseller of more than 10,000 technology products. Finally, the Holcomb’s KnowPlace web site dedicated to assisting
teachers and administrators in a safe, secure, easy to use, environmentally friendly manner.
